Plot Outline
In 1939, Polly Perkins (Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow – Shakespeare In Love), an intrepid New York City newspaper reporter makes a connection between the story she is covering–about famous scientists suddenly disappearing around the world–and a recent attack on the city by giant robots. Determined to find an explanation for these events, Polly enlists the aid of her ex-boyfriend, Joe “Sky Captain” Sullivan (Jude Law – Alfie, Closer), the commander of a legion of daredevil, mercenary pilots. As Polly and Joe investigate the case, the robots attack the city again. But in a stroke of luck, Sky Captain’s right-hand man, Dex Dearborn (Giovanni Ribisi – “Friends”), is able to locate their source. Polly, Joe and crew then set off on a dangerous mission in search of Dr. Totenkopf (Sir Laurence Olivier, via archival footage) the evil, scheming mastermind who is hell-bent on destroying the world as we know it to create his own utopia. Franky Cook (Angelina Jolie – Lara Croft Tomb Raider films), the captain of a British airship and, like Polly, a former lover of Joe’s, lends a helping hand to the heroes when they need it most in the spectacular sci-fi adventures of Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow.
